The property is located in Palm Springs and it had to retain the work of renowned mid-century architect William Cody while offering its new owner the comfort of a modern lifestyle. This project restores and modestly modifies of one William Cody’s best houses in this area, built in 1962. The project began by analyzing the architect’s original intentions, through understanding the grids and systems that generated the plan and section of the house and its relationship to the landscape. Michael Haverland restored the Abernathy Residence and brought into light all the original details while maintaining an elegant, updated atmosphere.
