This wooden contemporary home in Redwood City, California is a remarkable example of how nowadays architecture can be exquisite and elegant making use of natural materials. Realized by Giffin & Cane Studio, the building reflects stability and tranquility, being a comfortable environment for both daily living and relaxed gatherings with friends. Expanding more in length than in height, the construction features large transparent windows that allow natural light come inside all day long. Popular and functional, wood dominates the interiors of this house. Flooring, ceiling, furniture and decorative items are made of timber, some finished and elegant, while others were left raw to add a touch of wilderness. Thus, by combing various types of woods, the home offers a harmonious environment to its inhabitants.
A tall living space in natural colors
A pool surrounded by grass is not so common, but I am sure the inhabitants enjoy the feeling of wilderness while swimming.
A surface of grey pebble enlivened by a water pond.
My favorite spot: a minimalist interior featuring an elegant bathtub, a round wooden frame and a stool. I cannot say what makes the setup so appealing, but it is certainly among the most inspiring ones.
An almost invisible sink ‘carved’ in stone
Inspired by nature, the room features natural colors of beige, brown and grey.
An original pot made of wood and a spectacular decorative piece holding a bird.
