La Dolça, the new gastronomic space in Tickets Restaurant, is the result of the successful collaboration between the duo of chefs Albert and Ferran Adrià and the Iglesias brothers over the past four years. The continued evolution and success of Tickets Restaurant required an extension, bringing forth La Dolça, the new space dedicated solely to desserts. For its design the Adrià brothers once again chose El Equipo Creativo who designed the original Tickets.
After a dinner full of surprises in Tickets, guests are invited to “put the icing on the cake” by having dessert in La Dolça. Designers El Equipo Creativo have been back to add a little slice of sweetness to the mix in the form of a dessert bar, conceived in conjunction with El Taller de Piñero and main man Albert Adriá himself.
Adriá says he wanted to base the space on the idea of children’s stories, and the influence of the set design of the Alice in Wonderland and Charlie in the Chocolate Factory films are clear to see in the use of giant berries and flowers that festoon the ceiling. From above, the ceiling as protagonist receives the guest with an explosion of color: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries and giant flowers envelop the space offering a unique and magical atmosphere. The installation is made up of more than 1,000 hand-painted pieces of fibreglass resin fruit, flowers and foliage which were put together in just one month using prototype moulds that developed during the mini project
At a more accessible level for the guest, the furniture, specifically designed for La Dolça, also forms part of the stenography. The white paper doilies used for pastries are the leitmotiv for the design of the tables, which at the same time serve as filters through which the spotlights draw a world of lights and shadows on the floor. The magical space is also blessed with bespoke tables and chairs, along with whimsical birdcages and table centrepieces. The desserts bar looks set to maintain this venue’s status as the hottest ticket in town.
