We all dream of having a large spacious bathroom to relax in and recuperate, but more often than not, the standard space in city flats is limited and dreams are therefore crushed by reality and by the actual square footage available in a small bathroom. Brightly coloured, unpredictable, cheeky and even over the top at times. The story of Teuco starts back in 1972 thanks to the intuition of its founder Virgilio Guzzini, who decided to produce bathtubs in acrylic, a truly innovative material in this industry. The success was instantaneous and the Company was quickly propelled to its leadership position in the whirlpool bath segment.
Thanks to the constant investments in research and development and in communication, and also to the outstanding ability to interpret the market requirements and anticipate its trends, over the years Teuco has been at the helm of the development and evolution of the bathroom, turning it from an insignificant hidden room into an open setting.
Innovating and evolving, while always looking ahead, is indeed the distinguishing trait of the corporate philosophy, a constant which now ranks Teuco as a global bathroom brand that is now opening up to new design areas. This is how the “Teuco total look” came about, affording exclusive, complete and comprehensive collections – consisting of wash basins, sanitary fixtures, taps, storage units, bathtubs and shower enclosures – all designed by leading names in the world of international design and architecture.
For the first time, the company is presenting a bathroom collection which also includes furnishings and sophisticated interior décor items, such as carpets, armchairs, wall lamps and chandeliers.
Teuco has always been a pioneer in the development of new materials. From the introduction of acrylic, which revolutionised the bathroom world 40 years ago to Duralight : the patented, solid surface composite material, 100% pliable for total design freedom, conceived, produced and processed exclusively by Teuco and which teams superior performance with styling appeal. All this is possible thanks to the expertise gained on the field and to the ongoing collaboration with scientific committees and universities, both Italian and international.
We all dream of having a large spacious bathroom to relax in and recuperate, but more often than not, the standard space in city flats is limited and dreams are therefore crushed by reality and by the actual square footage available in a small bathroom. If you fell the same, don’t worry: we have some good news for you: by following a few simple tips and choosing products and solutions designed specifically for small spaces you can create your very own personal oasis, even in a compact bathroom: practical and functional and at the same time relaxing and with an exclusive design.
Below are some of our suggestions to start right now:
Select your bathroom tiles and colours with care
Pick pastel colours and pale shades for your wall and floor tiles. It is vital to that you keep colour shades uniform as much as possible, both between floors and walls as well as between walls and ceiling, and never use too much contrast. This tip will visibly expand the space, eliminating the intersecting planes, which instead make it appear smaller.
Exploit natural light
Use natural light as much as possible as it’s the best type of light to make the bathroom appear as relaxing and large as possible. For this reason, avoid covering windows and shutters with heavy curtains or Venetian blinds; if you do fit Venetian blinds, pick pale coloured ones: in white or cream to screen out the outside while allowing light to filter through. As regards artificial lighting, choose white light over yellow light, as the latter usually makes the space appear smaller.
Choose the most suitable wash basin and sanitary fixtures
You can save precious inches if you pick the right sanitary fixtures. Pick compact and wall-mounted models to reduce their overall dimensions as much as possible. The choice of wash basin is also important: wall-mounted versions leave the underlying space free to fit a cabinet or shelves. The wash basin in our new Mia collection incorporates a storage shelf within the same space as the wash basin, which can be used as practical extra storage for toiletries.
Use mirrors smartly
If you don’t have room to fit a bathroom vanity cabinet to store your towels and toiletries, exploit the space on the walls and install wall-mounted shelves or cabinets. If you have a free corner, the ideal solution is to fit corner shelves to maximise the storage space. To heat the room, choose a heated towel rail because it has a dual purpose: a radiator and a towel rail in one.
An excellent strategy to make the bathroom appear bigger is to use clever mirror positions. Pick large mirrors to reflect the surrounding space and fit a light above or opposite the mirrors to exploit the reflection. Another tip: if possible, place the mirror opposite the window, as this will multiply the space and make it look like there are two windows in your bathroom.
