If you happen to be building a house, and it’s going to be higher than one floor, you’ll probably need a staircase. In most people’s homes a staircase is just a functional means of travelling from one floor to another. Usually there is nothing very remarkable about a staircase, though some are more attractive than others. It used to be that you had a choice. So much of the time, stairs look as if they were ignored until the last minute of the design process, but not in these cases. Perhaps one of the most important non-aesthetic design elements of a staircase is space. If the designer can’t figure out a good way to use the space under the stairs, they will take up a lot of space for no good reason at all.
Closed or open sides, and natural or painted wood. Some might have more ornate spindles and balusters, while others would just have paneling underneath the handrail. Floating staircases are pretty much perfect for any contemporary home that wishes to sport striking interiors. They blend in beautifully both form and functionally as they lift the ‘style quotient’ of your entire house to a whole new level!
