When you want to renovate an old house, lots of questions cross your mind. Does it worth the investment? How do I make old look new without mistakes? What remains and what ca not be rescued at all? After renovating her 1920′ house, designer Bronwyn Poole from Space Healer has several solutions. Before planning the budget and discussing the phases of the renovation with her husband, Bronwyn Poole clarified one thing: the feeling to be experienced at home. ‘I wanted people invited into our space to have a personal encounter with it.’, she says. ‘If our home is not a total mess by the time our guests and their children leave, I will be greatly insulted and take it as a sign that they did not enjoy themselves.’ With this intention in mind, the first requirements appeared on the list: lots of natural light, a large bedroom for their daughters to share, an isolated guest bedroom, a sense of openness without being open plan, and convenient location of the laundry, parking & bins. Designer Bronwyn Poole explains how to renovate an old house with wallpapers: ‘I used five different types of wallpapers throughout our home to intrinsically tell each spaces story. Distinct colours, patterns and textures were selected to define each space and seamlessly transition the occupant from formal to informal areas.’
