Architect Ernesto Pereira envisioned SilverWoodHouse, an original contemporary timber-clad residence located in Portugal. For his first big project and work, architect Ernesto Pereira was commissioned to transform an old house into the new residence of a couple. The brief came with no deadline or budget, yet it required “a piece of art, a product that fascinated them and where it would feel good to live”.The request only entailed the following: a work of art, a fascinating product in which the couple could see themselves living in. Extensive research followed: “It was very important to meet the owners exhaustively, as well as their tastes and their foibles, routines and pleasures, and present a solution: the SilverWoodHouse. According to the architects: ” Yes, SilverWoodHouse, is my presentation to the world of design, architectural and constructive, my route in the course of a project / work, moves from its conception to its construction. I have literally gotten my hands dirty, mainly in the art of carpentry. More gratifying, still, was seeing the family pleased ( parents included) with the ?nal product, and the pride they felt in showing the “work” to their guests.”
” I decided to take the beach to my clients, so that they could feel everyday the proximity of the dunes, sand and worn wood.” An array of balconies and terraces open up the interior towards the breezy environment. Diagonal slats of timber define the exterior design of the residence and contrast the white walls. Mirrored in the swimming pool, the original building inspires a holiday refuge with a soothing beach-side atmosphere.
