With a guest house like this, who needs a primary residence? Oak Pass Guest House is a private home located in Beverly Hills, California, USA. It was designed in 2013 by Walker Workshop. The Oak Pass Guest House uses its height and a small footprint to maximize panoramic canyon views and strengthen its connection to the surrounding tree-filled site. It is contemporary in design but traditional in inspiration, clothed in warm, earthy materials that feel at home in this California plot. This two bedroom guesthouse sits along a ridge in a grove of over 120 coast live oak trees. The lower level consists of a rehabbed and enlarged barn and newly constructed living spaces. The upper floor is clad in wood and has bedrooms at opposite corners of the floating volume. Polished concrete completes the material palette, which manages to remain sleek and modern while being homely. The walls and arched ceilings of the barn section provide a friendly acoustic space for calming reverberation. For the client and the guests of the home, this is a stunning execution by Walker Workshop. Just let us know when we can visit, yeah?
