Vanguarda architects finished the ‘concrete house’ in a private community near buenos aires. The house fits: in its space, in its environment, and in a playful spirit that epitomizes a weekend retreat. The spacious 500 m2 home contains 9 rooms dispersed over two floors, with all the social functions on the ground level, including the living and dining rooms, kitchen, tv room, breakfast bar, theater, patio, and barbecue area. Large expanses of concrete, wood, and glass are arranged into a geometrical parti exhibiting a rationalist structure. “The land’s characteristics made it possible to plan the design of this weekend house through vast glass façades that are benefited by the empty area surrounding it and integrate large visual fields towards the golf course and the immediate environment.” One key element of this home is a very simple layout — two main areas that cross each other. The upper floor contains the private bedrooms and kids’ playroom connected through a linear corridor that appears in some of the double-height rooms.
