I love Scandinavian design because it is simple, cozy and functional. And, if the house is located near a harbour, its value enriches immediately. This is also the case with the dwelling built in 1990, in Kullavik port, a community near Gothenburg, Sweden. With one of the highest positions in Kullavik port, this house has five floors, totting up about 335 square meters. Specific to Scandinavian design, the interior features stylish mixes of traditional and contemporary items in a blend that would satisfy both teenagers and adults of the house. Take the living room, for example. A focal area was created around a coffee table made of transparent glass, surrounded by a comfortable sofa, two stools and an armchair. The fireplace incorporated unobtrusively in the wall warms the atmosphere, while offering a rustic touch to the interior. Above, a candlestick and a tiny sculpture were exhibited in two niches, lighted by several spots. Nearby, a stone bar connects the living room with the dining area where an oval table with marble countertop represents the central point. From the kitchen, you are invited to step outside, on a private terrace where you can experience the smell and the sound of the sea.
As for the colours, white was used as a predominant tone. It functions like a canvas where you can introduce lively contrasts of pink, blue, red and green. Those who love Scandinavian design know that the combination of colours is a common theme in the area and it represents a fruitful source of inspiration when you want to create a vivid and playful interior. Do not forget about the flowers – they make us smile every day!
