Have you ever thought of buying some gardening utensils from an art institution? This is possible at Ihotim, a contemporary art museum located in Brumadinho, a city in southeast Brazil. Noticing the interest of the public for the botanical collection, the management team proposed a Botanical Shop for selling plants and utensils. Having in mind the simplicity of the nature, Maria Paz and Thomaz Regatos, architects of Rizoma studio designed the shop as an opened shelter that keeps the products protected from the weather. Baskets, lamps, bird houses, pruners, shovels or other tools that make any job in the garden easier are artistically exhibited at the Botanical Shop. Completed in 2011 on a 198 sqm built area, the boutique invites the visitors in a jungle like environment with stone floors and luxuriant plants that seem to invade inside.
