This sculptural project was designed by Plasma Studio, an international architecture and design studio, best known for its use of form and geometry. Sesto is the “home” of Paramount Alma Residence, a project that really had an impact on us, being fully covered with thin strips of larch wood. Parametric software created an angular shape that folds around and on top of the original cuboid form. The wooden covering spreads like a web, protecting and adding a sense of privacy. The skin wraps around an addition to the six-room hotel, providing sheltered outdoor space. The house accommodates two levels. Inside, bedrooms face on to a corridor lit by a glass chasm that extends up and over the building. “The interior of this family home is characterized by 360-degree views. Perhaps the most spectacular of these being a view of the sky through an incision over the central stair. This opening delivers an immediate reading of exterior weather conditions, collecting precipitation and receiving direct sunlight.”
