Australian architectural firm Studio 101 has designed the Cruciform project located in Mount Macedon, a small town located 40 miles northwest of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. This residence is a kind of contemporary rural house. A palette of natural materials was chosen for finishes, including ironbark timber, copper, glass and local sandstone. The glasses dominantly design the facades and sides; it is done to get the outside views and also the natural skylight for the rooms inside. The architecture is orientated for maximum solar access and the local sandstone wall cladding used in the interiors provides great thermal mass. A dramatic cantilever enhances the sense of elevation. The structure of this house is constructed in combinations of the natural materials designs included the concrete, stones, and also glasses.
