Ask people to picture a bathroom in their head and tell you what they see and most people will describe stark white walls and pristine glossy fittings. This should come as no surprise as we tend to associate white with purity, calm and cleanliness, three features that are often valued and desirable in the bathroom.
Not all designs for contemporary bathroom suites follow this trend however. A number of modern motifs include the addition of darker colors to the decor, creating some startling and stylish results.
Fitting black gloss furniture against immaculate white tiles creates a sharp, minimalist contrast to the aesthetic without detracting from the ambiance of the room.
Some other designs keep the majority of the room white but include a black trim to create harsh edges that are visually striking.
If the combination of black and white is a bit too ‘much’ for your tastes, then utilizing different shades of grey can help ease the disparity.
