This home, located in the Bellaterra district of Cerdanyola del Vallès, Spain, was rehabilitated by the Spanish-German architectural studio YLAB Arquitectos. The home is spacious and brightly illuminated, featuring wooden accents to add character.
The objective was to make this house of classical forms and narrow interior layout into a modern house with large and continuous spaces, allowing owners to enjoy the fantastic views from all areas. For this, the house was emptied achieving a new layout, the facades were improved to match their geometry, increasing the volume of the house, and new windows and window frames of solid wood carpentry were created, allowing for abundant connections between the exterior and interior spaces of the house. The interior finishes in pavement of Sahel limestone and polished tropical Etimoé wood help create a bright and warm areas. In the front garden we proposed an access stairway and planters bounded by recovered sleepers. In the rear, a large terrace of bush hammered stone, in extension of the interior space, descending to the to form an infinity pool, a sunning area and a series of terraced gardens.
