Through his company, EcoDesignFinca, Stephen Nickel builds innovative, energy-saving and aesthetically pleasing low-energy and passive houses. This luxury retreat in Mallorca is the first of his projects to showcase their capabilities, and going on this alone, we’re sold. The home was prefabricated in Germany to ensure a high degree of tightness, weatherproofing and accuracy before being shipped to Mallorca and installed. While it certainly took energy to ship it all the way from Germany, hopefully the energy savings and the high standards of construction will overcome the transportation footprint.
Located on a 17,000 sq m (4.2 acre) parcel, the home is surrounded by beautiful fields and trees. The 400 m² living space is divided into entrance hall with piano, modern fitted kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, master bedroom with dressing room, bathroom en suite, spa with sauna, shower & jacuzzi, an office room, guest WC and utility room. Water is sourced from a private well on the property. In addition, the villa also offers a bodega with panoramic windows and a view into the kitchen. An elegant fireplace separates the living and dining room.
