Wooden House Overlooking the Atlantic

Spotted on casa.abril.com.br, the project represents one of the most interesting buildings I have ever seen. “Like a butterfly that lived hidden in the woods, the house landed gently on the ground,” jokes Silvio Sant’Anna, author of this project together with Ana Vidal. In the construction of this haven of 153 m², on the coast of São Paulo, no tree was uprooted.The house has wooden frame, it is lightweight and open to nature. This unique ability to mimic the vegetation and make it invisible to passersby on the street comes from the lightness of the materials. The architects invested in a wooden structure enclosed by glass panes also not to overload the plot steep and at risk of landslides. And took care of preserving native vegetation, leaving tree roots holding the soil, which also prevent landslides. Held by 11 columns, the building barely touches the floor and occupies only one tenth of the total plot area of 900 m².
