While we’re all still catching up from the holiday break, let’s take a moment to imagine a weekend spent in the Vipp Shelter. Vipp is a Danish company known mostly for its industrial garbage cans, but now they’ve thrown their hat in the ring for prefab homes.
The Vipp Shelter is a minimalist prefab steel object that emerges in a rugged landscape farmed by naked trees and a silent lake. This prefabricated, 55 square meter structure is designed to be placed in the natural setting of your choice with minimal effort on your part. So much so that the furniture, appliances, fixtures, lighting, tableware, towels, and even bed linens have already been picked out and will be waiting for you on your first arrival, which should happen in as little as six months after you place your order. The second-floor bed loft and floor-to-ceiling windows give you plenty of room to lay out with a soulmate, and you’ll know they’re a soulmate because it’ll take up to six months for your shelter to be up and running. The first shelter is placed in a secret location somewhere “in the wilderness” in Sweden, and I heard there will be a contest later to guess where it is. Time to start looking around then!
