Circular walls are always eye catching and surprising. The one built for a modern house we spotted on maxpritchardarchitect.com.au works perfectly for the two level building. The curved form clad in natural finished timber battens provides a bold form to the street elevation and extends to screen the adjacent dwelling. Moreover, the architect used the semi circular footprint to pivot the house across the narrow rectangular block to gain a northerly aspect and capture an expansive view across a golf course. The skewed plan also created opportunistically delightful landscaped spaces on a moderately falling allotment. The excitement of walking up to and entering a lime green front door is rewarded by an opening onto a transparent stair hall and courtyard that leads to a separate two level pavilion, with the main living accommodation on the upper levels.
