Are you an optimistic person? Then, you should let the Filipino spirit influence your house! Buensalido Architects did so with a house for a young couple from Manila, Philippines and transformed it in a statement of happiness. Step by step, the house welcomes you in a festival of colors: the major theme is expresses through triangles, an abstracted representation of banderitas (or flaglets) used in fiestas. Vibrant, contemporary furnishings were chosen to maintain a common theme throughout the apartment. What do architects say about the project? “Designed for a newly married couple, this townhouse is a tribute to the Filipino spirit. This was captured with the different bursts of colors within the house, achieving a sense of vibrancy, festivity, and positivism. A certain kind of material honesty was aimed for, so for the concrete flooring for example, was kept as is, applying a special kind of lithium-based sealant to achieve a smooth, terrazzo-like effect.”
