When building your own home, there are so many factors to consider, especially when it comes to building the foundation. If you don’t carefully inspect the terrain of the lot you’ll be building on and build accordingly, you could delay the building process or face very expensive repair costs. Architects from K_M Architektur chose a difficult terrain from Lindau, Germany to build a single floor residential home because the owner wanted to catch “lake views” daily. It was built on a slightly sloping property with direct access and spectacular view to the lake (an open dining and living area with a fireplace faces the lake). A combination of geothermal heating and rooftop photovoltaic panels produce most of the energy, supplemented by a fireplace in the living area.
