Is there a better place for a writter on Earth? A main studio with library, a writing desk and a grand piano represent the attractions of the pavilion realized by Gianni Botsford Architects for a writer. The wooden structure sits on a simple foundation of wooden stilts on small concrete pad foundations. The mono-pitched roof elevates towards the sea shore, while the interior is through ventilated via a completely louvred glazed end façade. Set at a short distance along a raised walkway, a second smaller pavilion mirrors the first. This contains sleeping quarters and a bathroom. Externally, the pavilions are clad in corrugated steel sheeting, another locally used construction material.
Loads of books piled up on the wall.
The overall effect is that of a building which blends with its surroundings, both visually and environmentally.
The architect let the studio flooded by natural light.
The studio is located in Costa_Rica – home to a rich variety of plants and animals. While the country has only about 0.25% of the world’s landmass, it contains 5% of the world’s biodiversity.
