Portuguese architects Aires Mateus, designed a very interesting project in the Aroeira district in Portugal. The project takes the form of a residence which sits on a 1,500 square meter hexagonal site, from which the house derives its shape. The house takes on a unique hexagonal shape but it is not easily noticed since it lacks fencing, therefore diluting the land into the surrounding pine trees. Arranged around a courtyard, articulating its spaces as an extension of this central space. This project has a distinct layout, with it’s hexagonal shape, and bright interiors. The house’s only boundary is the outline of its awning, tranquilizing the main spaces.
