Seattle-based studio Pb Elemental has recently completed the Shorter Residence project located in the Wenatchee Valley, Washington. The Shorter Residence was an addition to a 1906 apple orchard farm house. The original home is an orchard farmhouse that had been extensively modernized by the owners on the interior to fit their needs and aesthetics. PB Elemental was commissioned to design a master suite, family room and dining area as well as re-clad the previous garage addition.
The design was created to maximize views of the valley and surrounding hills, while providing the owners refuge from the daily activities of working from home. The former master bedroom was converted into a new bath and closets, a corten steel structure was built to house the bedroom and sitting area. The spaces share a fireplace and roofdeck over the new dining area. The former outdoor deck was removed and replaced by the new living spaces on the second floor.
