Melbourne-based studio Jackson Clements Burrows (JCB) designed the Hue Apartments project. Completed in 2008, this residential building is located in Richmond, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The building is divided into a series of 5.4 meter wide bays that are derived from the two storey terrace house party walls at lower levels. Upper level north and south facades are either timber or glass louvre infill bays between the party walls. The louvres offer opportunities to control noise and ventilation, as well as allowing balcony spaces to be sealed as sun rooms within winter months, effectively increasing liveable spaces within the apartments.
