A-001 Taller de Arquitectura have completed the design and development of Casa del Viento, a contemporary residence in the city of Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico.
Tepozteco is a huge volcanic formation in the site and it opens the possibility that the rows of wind and water erosion, indeed where actually made by the people of the town trying to bring down the god of the winds As a form of tribute, “Casa del Viento” faces north to the Tepozteco to fill every interior space with a 180 degrees view of a rock formation that changes personality as the sun journeys the sky. It´s slender form allow harnessing the natural lighting from the south and the view from the north, as well as creating cross ventilation in all the rooms. Reflecting the cultural mix that characterizes the region, the architecture of the building includes a variety of materials, ranging from exposed concrete and glass to the more traditional stone. The result is an imposing modern mansion, complete with a terrace the owners wanted for meditation, small balconies and a swimming pool reflecting the silhouette of Tepoztlán.
