Slate, ebony, leather – luxurious materials like these are the backbone of a sophisticated dark interior. The impact of large expanses of black in interior design can be surprisingly fresh, and just as dramatic as you’d expect. They bring to mind the sound of clinking of cocktail glasses, the subtle aroma of fine old books, and memories of a time before designers felt the pressure to paint everything white for the sake of raw minimalism.

Deep, moody hues are not only in vogue, they’re surprisingly versatile (and you don’t have to be a goth to use them). This dark-themed home show that stark color palettes don’t have to be edgy or sullen, they can be playful and very full of life. Dark interior design is having a moment. Inky walls emphasise other shades used elsewhere, letting the furniture, art, and decorative objects shine in the space. Even for your darkest rooms there is a way to bring in lighter finishes to play off of the darker ones.
According to the architects: “We wanted to create unique atmosphere with cozy character. We used material like technical stone, fiberglass, wood slabs, marble, carbon fibre. Most of the interior items are specially designed for this apartment.” Enjoy!
