San Diego-based architect Jonathan Segal has designed The Cresta. This 5,300 square foot contemporary home in San Diego, California, USA, features a concrete construction and a large exterior room. The house looks even more extended than it already is, due to the floor to ceiling glass that replaces some of the walls and lets the place breathe. The house’s three stories, one below and two above grade, are accented by floor to ceiling glass and large open expanses to the outdoors. The Cresta is more than just any regular widely spread home, it’s the architect’s dream house. It features three floors, one below and two above grade. Intelligent sun shading, strategically placed operable glass and a reflecting and swimming pool with insulating and cooling effect also help contribute to the house’s eco character. The entire living space is characterised by transparency and breeziness. The boundaries between the indoor and the outdoor disappear. The roof is covered with photovoltaic panels that provide almost 100% of all the necessary power for the entire house. What do you think about this modern residence? Too much exposed concrete?
