Yerka Project is the world’s first unstealable bike. Every lock can be broken leaving the bike intact. That’s why they decided to make a lock out of the frame. The only way to steal it is to break the lock, which implies breaking the bike. This project is not only about a bicycle, it’s about an experience, which involves 3 key aspects: SAFETY, DESIGN, COMFORT. Unlike any other solution to this problem, like foldable or rental bikes, the YERKA technology maintains the slick design of an urban bike and it’s applicable to any frame shape. It sure looks like a traditional bike to the naked eye, but it’s the safest bicycle you’ll find!
The trick is the frame is the actual lock, so the only way to steal it is to break the lock, which pretty much breaks the bike. The makers say securing the bike to a sturdy pole or whatnot takes less than 20 seconds, and we imagine unlocking it happens just as fast. No word yet on when it’ll go from project to product, but we’re all for anything that smacks thieves away from our stuff and back into their holes.
