Integrated within the striking natural surroundings, the Bridle Road House (also called Gubbins House) is a single family home that derives its characteristics from the landscape around it, integrating, stone, wood and glass. This contemporary residence is located at the base of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa.
Designed in collaboration with Rees Roberts & Partners, Antonio Zaninovic Architecture Studio has completed the Bridle Road House. The land runs along a densely vegetated ravine, where a stream flows uninterrupted from the mountain above all the way to the urban dams below. Tucked in against the mountain, the structure was designed to integrate as much as possible with its surrounding landscape. This tranquil space complete with a pond and sculptural indigenous trees leads to the six-meter-high foyer tower which articulates the different elements of the house that continue out from that central focal point.
