Azzurro Restaurant by Andrin Schweizer Company is a restaurant located inside the exhibition building in Zurich. Completed in 2011, each level is defined by a color, and in the same way also the restaurants, consequently every restaurant has the name of a color, in this case the name is Azzurro (light blue). Its interior is trendy and cozy at the same time, with a glimpse of countryside atmosphere which was achieved by using paneling with Dutch tiles. The ropes on the ceiling represent a modern pergola, the wall of tiles illuminates and reflects the surrounding environment. The main feature is the absence of natural light, the huge stained-glass windows look only on the exhibition hall. the environment is divided into three different spaces, 2 are double-height (7m) and the main room is normal height (3,60 m).

The concept comes from the name of the restaurant, Azzurro is the sea, the mediterraneo, a little vacation during a day of presentations and expositions, the lack of daylight does nothing but increase the need of a cool and bright place that remember the outdoors. A cloud of lamps hanged on the different heights adds more style and brightness into the space.
Through the use of materials typical of Mediterranean culture, thw architects tried to suggest the ambience of a seaside resort, the ropes on the ceiling represent a modern pergola, the wall of tiles illuminates and reflects the surrounding environment. The wooden shelves filled with natural elements of Mediterranean culture do remember an old market, while pictures on the walls are enclosed in white frames that contrast with the blue walls, and a perforated and backlit wall makes us imagine a horizon in the background.
