Long Lake Residence is what we usually call a ‘little heaven’ at home. Located in a beautiful area in Nanaimo (Canada), the four-storey lakefront residence was projected by Raymond de Beeld Architect Inc. with the idea of combing environmentally sensitive design solutions with pragmatism and functionality. Relying on classic elements, the interior features solid wooden furnishings mixed with exquisite pieces such as the black leather sofa or the sophisticated chandelier in the living room. Meanwhile, the exterior played an essential role. The architects sought to emphasize the relationship between the building and the site, making the natural light a constant feeling inside. Moreover, the dining room was totally ‘moved’ outside through a sliding glass wall that opens up into the balcony. Therefore, architecture can contribute to human life not just physically but emotionally and spiritually.
